For
years we have put off the decision to end development
of WordPerfect documents and discontinue support.
We know that many users are very comfortable with
WordPerfect for DOS, and in the past some may not
have had equipment capable of running the newer system.
For these reasons, we continued support for WordPerfect
for years beyond any other company in this industry.
We
are now at the point where we need to get the last
small group of WP 5.1 users upgraded to merging documents
in MS Word. There are several reasons for this:
Because
of the ALTA forms deadline, we are using June 30,
2007 as the deadline to have all of our clients still
using WordPerfect upgraded to merging with Microsoft
Word.
Switching
which word processor Standard Conveyancer uses to
generate your documents is a relatively simple change.
Clients who have upgraded to using MS Word appreciate
the ease with which they can review their documents,
develop new custom documents, and e-mail finished
documents to clients. The latest Standard Conveyancer
and MS Word updates make merging documents in Word
fast and reliable.
After
your system is upgraded to use MS Word, you will still
be able to use WordPerfect for any custom documents
that you have only in the WordPerfect format. We plan
on using the second half of 2007 to help you get your
custom documents converted to MS Word before finally
discontinuing WordPerfect support.
We
will be in touch with you shortly to discuss your
firm's specific situation and to develop a plan to
make this change as easy as possible.
